Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2: Disney-fied version of Marvel Universe

Had it been that long? Yup, it had been months since I last update my blog. Least it is better than my photo site which had not been working for the past year. But, to be fair, it had been that long since I really eat out and visited the cinema. Moving to a new place to work did mess up with my routine, as I am still trying to get use to all the new routine.


Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 is a good film to break my hiatus. I enjoyed the first movie, though it had been rather mindless fun, something like Deadpool, though a bit more serious comparatively. The trouble with this light film, I had trouble recalling the events, I just remembered it was an enjoyable fare. Vol 2 came out without much hoo-hah, I was just looking for a film to watch in the cinema when I realize Vol 2 is out.


Lets just start by saying, Vol 2 continued the trend in the first movie. Light heart, did not take itself seriously and probably by next week, I would forget the details of it. It is enjoyable, none the less. There were so many humour inside that it could even qualify as a comedy. The way the opening battle took place in the background of 80's music set the mood to the whole film.
Casting is perfect, from Chris Platt to the voice of Bradley Cooper was familiar with us since the first outing. Characterization is continued from the first movie, so not much of effort need to be done in that department. The action is fast paced, somehow light, but stylish especially Yondu's arrow.


In the end, it seems to follow the winning formula of the first movie. Alas, Marvel took the Disney interpretation of things. Importance of family and friendship. They had to highlight it so often that they soften the villain in the first movie. Converting Yondu and Nebula into the good guys? That was a gamble. Look what kill Heroes, when Syler was turned to the good side. Luckily the plot was rather palatable, but pushing Yondu to a father figure was really pushing the limit. Despite that, the whole movie was rather easy going and truly enjoyable. It just left a warm Disney feel in the heart when we walked out of the cinema.


Did I miss out the plot. It is not so important. Something about The Guardians stopping a megalomaniac villain from taking over the universe. And it took the conversion of Yondu and Nebula to defeat the villain. There is no need to pay too much attention to the plot, just enjoy the ride.
