February is definitely a quiet month for me in blogosphere. Busy with Chinese New Year preparation and the only eating outs are for all the "ending work" dinners. Busy with cleaning the house and trying my best to empty some living spaces. So, lets make this review fast.
Jupiter Ascending. Bad. Disappointing.
Wow, that was really short. For those who wanted to read more, the story, by Wachowskis, is not that bad. There was an empire in space long long time ago, which enterprise on breeding humans to harvest them for essence to built some serum to prolong lives. Yup, time is the most expensive commodity ever. Mother of the empire dies, the empire was split among the children. Zoom into earth, whereby Jupiter Jones was born with the exact same gene sequence of the mother, making her the reincarnation of her, and enabling her to take her inheritance of the whole empire. All the children then targeted her, most would want to kill her, one way or the other. Everyone is introduce to Wise, who play Jupiter love interest and bodyguard. Trust him to rescue her in so many instances throughout the movie. Minus the love story, the space empire story was fair, but the execution was a failure.
Um. I promise to be short, and sweet. Script. Very very cheesy. Acting: average at most. Mila Kunis is rather unbelievable as the simple cleaner girl, and also unbelievable as the reincarnated queen mother. Action: innovative space fighter jets, but the sequence is so fast that I still could not recall how the aircraft looks like. CGI: great, that is the only saving grace of the whole movie, the backdrop and the background of the whole space world was done to near perfection.
Summary: just skip the show.
ratings: 1 half poink~!
comments: me and colleen looked at our watch a few times throughout the show. Bad signs. 'Nuff said. And I actually spelled the title of the movie wrong in my first draft... my mind is obviously trying very hard to forget the show....
