Warm Snow Beer: surprise nice little western outing

Thanks to Groupon again, we manage to try new food joints. This round, we went to Warm Snow Beer in Medan Ipoh Bistari. The place is definitely new, though I cannot recall what was the shop before this. Warm Snow Beer comprises of 2 shoplots, in the row of Michaelangelo pizza, towards McD end. For those who are still not familiar, this is the area of Tesco near Aeon in Ipoh Garden.
The place is new, so everything looks... new. The waiter is very friendly and helpful. Although one can argue that there are not many patrons tonight, he still make us feel welcome, and that is a rare sight in restaurants in Ipoh. Decorations are modern and fit the menu of western fine dining.
We come to the menu... mainly it is western fine dining with pasta and chicken and steaks... well, one would get the idea. Our groupon voucher allows us to order 2 set of Cajun Spiced Chicken and Spaghetti Aglio Olio for RM 28. The original price for the 2 sets are RM50.60. Drinks are not covered in the voucher but we order separately. Usual fruit juice would cost RM4.50 per glass. As you can see, the price is not cheap even with our voucher. Then again, you have to understand that this is a semi fine dining sort of menu so one could not expect too cheap from here either.

Then came our food. The pasta and cajun chicken would sound odd in the beginning. Separately, both the pasta and chicken do have certain nice points and improvement area. The pasta was bit dry for my taste and the chicken was bit salty. However, the use of spice and herbs for both the dish was superb and just enough to bring out the taste and yet not to overshadow the pasta or chicken. Once I mix the two up, it brought the dish to another level. The pasta was not dry anymore and the chicken was just nice to blend with the pasta which were less salty. Did I mention the chicken was really juicy

Overall, the outing was really nice. The only drawback is the price which is bit steep for some. Then again, good food seldom come cheap.

comments: extra poink for the good service. And I still wonder why "warm" snow beer? I thought everyone like their beer chilled?
